100,000th Jazz delivered by Honda Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: It’s a big day for Honda Malaysia, as today they hit the milestone of delivering the 100,000th unit of the Jazz. The said Jazz hatchback was handed over to its owner at the Ban Lee Heng Motor dealership.

It was in the year 2003 when the first-gen GD Jazz global model was introduced in Malaysia and it was sold as an imported unit. Honda continued to sell Jazz as a CBU even after the arrival of the second-gen GE model that was launched in 2008. Back then, a total of 18,000 units of Jazz (CBU) were sold.

It was in the year 2012 and 2013 when Honda Malaysia first rolled out the CKD units of Jazz Hybrid and Jazz petrol, respectively. Since then HM has delivered over 80,000 units of the locally assembled Jazz.

The third-gen Jazz has been around since 2014, with the ongoing model receiving a mid-life facelift in mid-2017. As of May 2019, 75,000 units of the current-gen model were sold, thus making it the most successful Jazz generation till date. Based on the Honda Malaysia data, Jazz occupied 62 percent of the market share, leading it to be the leader of the non-national compact hatchback segment.

Also, Malaysia is the only country apart from Japan, where Honda assembles and sells the Jazz Hybrid.

On hitting the milestone, Honda MD and CEO, Toichi Ishiyama said, “We celebrated the 130,000th customer for Civic last month and with the Jazz today, we have recorded another important milestone. We want to thank all 100,000 Jazz customers for their unwavering support in making this milestone possible. The trust and belief in our brand has allowed us to serve all our customers better and made it possible for us to maintain our leadership position as No.1 in the non-national segment and No.2 in overall as of May 2019,”

He further added that the Jazz hatch had captured many hearts over the years. It is a compact car that has been designed to be versatile, practical and more than anything fun. Also, it meets the needs of customers with varied lifestyles. The hatch attracts a wide group of customers - from young executives to college kids and young married couples.

Kelvin, the owner of the 100,000th Jazz, was also gifted a Mugen accessory package along with a ‘Protection Package’ by Honda Malaysia. Included in this protection kit are wheel lock nuts by Honda Access Japan, Ultra Body Coating, and Ultra Window Coating.
