2015 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport marks a global premiere

Kuala Lumpur: Yesterday we broke the news regarding leaked Mitsubishi Pajero Sport interiors. We also shared with you that 1st August 2015 has been marked as the launching date of Pajero Sport. So finally the wait is over as this much teased and spied SUV has made its world premiere at the Big Motor Sale in Bangkok. It is all set to give a tough competition to its rivals like Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ford Everest, Isuzu Mu-X and the recently launched Toyota Fortuner.

The Pajero Sport has been crafted with Mitsubishi's latest design language that include a more masculine body, heavily carved front end, accentuated wheel arches and dynamic styling. Talking about the dimensions, the new Pajero Sport is now 90 mm longer at 4785 mm and 35 mm shorter at 1805 mm, while the width and wheelbase remains the same at 1815 mm and 2800 mm respectively. The ground clearance has been increased by 13 mm and now stands at 218 mm while the turning radius has been reduced to 5.6 mm.

The interiors of this car has been restyled with a higher center console along with silver accents on it. It has been integrated with a 4 spoke steering wheel with auto and cruise controls embossed on it. Also featuring is the new central multi-information display with a high contrast instrument cluster. Apart from that, the placement of air vents are also revised to provide better comfort to its occupants.

Previously, the Pajero Sport was powered by a 4D56 tagged 2.5litre engine which used to deliver a maximum output of 178 hp along with a peak torque of 350Nm. But now it has been replaced by a 4N15 coded 2.4 litre turbo diesel engine developing 181 hp at 3500 rpm and 430 Nm at 2500 rpm. This robust engine will be mated to an eight speed automatic transmission replacing the previous five speeder. Mitsubishi claims that such a gearbox would enable it to improve its fuel efficiency by 17% and the CO2 level would not exceed 200g/km.

For Malaysians, the Pajero Sport is being offered in three variants. The base variant GLS 2WD would cost you around 124,336RM, GT 2WD trim goes for 136,573RM but if you go for the top variant GT Premium 4WD, you would have to shell out 152,853RM till 30 September, after which it would rise to 158,425RM.
