2018 Honda Accord revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: After releasing a series of teaser images, the Japanese auto maker has finally taken the wraps off the 2018 Honda Accord. Entered in its tenth-generation, the Honda’s D-segment sedan features dramatic changes not only in terms of design but, also on the technical front. The updated Accord features the latest design language of Honda with ‘Solid Wing Face’ dominating the front. Further flanked by the sleek LED headlights, the overall front profile has received an aggressive touch.

On the sides, the coupe-like roofline gives elegance to the D-segment sedan while the rear quarter windows on the rear doors are the new addition. The side profile looks mature due to the two bold character lines which flow near the bottom of the doors. At the rear, a new version of Honda’s C-shaped taillights and new sloping trunk lid with a rear spoiler completes the overall design in an effective manner.

In the cabin, a completely new dashboard with a floating infotainment system finds a spot. Whereas, a three-spoke, sport inspired steering wheel is now equipped with paddle shifters. Another major change in the cabin is the new gear selector which is now a push-button system. The similar kind of selector is also found on Legend. The instrument cluster is a seven-inch TFT multi-information display while a new eight-inch touchscreen interface is now accompanied with audio and volume control dials.

2018 Honda Accord draws power from a 1.5-litre i-VTEC turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers a maximum power output of 192 PS and 260 Nm of peak torque. The same engine also powers the Honda Civic RS. Another option is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine that churns out a maximum power of 252 PS and peak torque of 370 Nm. Honda will also introduce a hybrid version of its executive sedan whose details are still not revealed by the manufacturer.

The Accord sales will first commence for the US market by the late 2017 and the launch dates for the ASEAN markets are yet to be announced.
