2019 Volkswagen Tiguan gets minor updates, no price hike announced

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Malaysia has announced that the new 2019 Tiguan will be equipped with a high-resolution digital Active Info Display and revamped full-LED tail lights. The good part is that the new features will be made available without making any changes in the pricing.

Launched back in April 2018, the second-generation Volkswagen Tiguan had been carrying a 12.3-inch Active Info Display digital instrument panel, which now has been replaced by a new high-resolution 2019 AID that incorporates two- and three-dimensional graphics for navigation and several in-car functions. Also, there’s a three-view customisable screen with over 30 combination options. Moreover, the dials also receive a customisability option to display a number of data and an option to view a full 3D map for GPS navigation.

Also, the 2019 Tiguan also receives re-furnished LED tail lights that are illuminated by F-shaped strips. The new LEDs also get new graphics, being the main highlight. The company has announced no more changes.

The second-gen Tiguan runs on 18-inch “Kingston” wheels and comes with features like Dynamic Cornering Assist and a Discover Media eight-inch touchscreen system. The “Vienna” combination leather interior and the three-zone climate control also add to the specs sheet.

The vehicle comes in two variants, namely, Comfortline and Highline. Both the variants are powered by a 1.4-litre TSI engine, which is capable of serving a maximum power output of 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. A front wheel drive pulls the vehicle via a six-speed DSG wet dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It is capable of reaching 0 to 100 kmph mark in 8.9-second. The company also provides a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, along with three-years free maintenance and five-years roadside assistance.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has decided not to go with any price hike across all the updated variants. The Tiguan price starts at RM165,990.
