2019 will see the launch of new Honda Accord

KUALA LUMPUR: Over in the west, the people of the United States have already had the taste of the brand new Honda Accord. And now, at the 2018 Thai Motor Expo which is being organised in Bangkok, the Japanese carmaker, along with the Civic, has also brought the new Accord, albeit for display purpose only. It is only a matter of time, come 2019 and we will see the updated Accord soaring through the streets of Thailand.

Following the footprints of the Honda Civic, the Thai-spec Accord will also feature design elements similar to its western self. No information is available about the interior, though. All because Honda has blacked-out the glasses on the Accord that has been put up for preview.

The 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo motor that makes 195 PS of maximum power and 260 Nm of peak torque is expected to make its way to Thailand market. However, another 2.0-litre mill is offered in the US which is good for a maximum of 260 PS of power and 270 Nm of maximum torque.

The hybrid variant of the Accord in the US features a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated Atkinson-cycle i-VTEC mill making 145 PS of max power and 175 Nm of peak torque. The engine is coupled with a pair of motors which produce 184 PS of power and a peak torque 315 Nm. The internal-combustion-engine and the electric motors in tandem make 215 PS of power.

Safety features on the new Honda Accord will include ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow which are part of the Honda Sensing package.
