2020 Audi RS Q8 debuts at 2019 LA Auto Show

KUALA LUMPUR: Audi has launched the 2020 RS Q8 at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show in California. Just like the other RS cars, the new RS Q8 comes with some hardware modifications along with sportier upgrades. The most notable change that the carmaker has made is its engine, as it now contains a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol mill.

The V8 mill is capable of churning out a maximum power of 600 PS along with a peak torque of 800 Nm. It completes the famous 0-100 kmph sprint in just 3.8 seconds, while for 0-200 kmph sprint, the car takes 13.7 seconds. The top speed of the car is electronically limited to 250 kmph. The power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed conventional automatic gearbox.

Just like the other RS stablemates, a 48-volt mild-hybrid system is available to assist the V8 engine. The former has belt alternator-starter, which is connected to the crankshaft. There are eight drive modes to choose from including comfort, efficiency, auto, allroad, dynamic, off-road, the customisable RS1 and RS2 modes. 

Design-wise, the 2020 Audi RS Q8 comes with RS-specific kit that comprises of Singleframe grille with a honeycomb insert, tinted Matrix LED headlights, an aggressive front bumper having integrated lower lip and massive side intakes, RS rear spoiler, the hallmark RS twin oval tailpipes and rear skirting with diffuser clip. 

The car rides on 22-inch aluminium wheels having a 10-spoke design. While there is an option of getting the 23-inch cast aluminium Y-spoke wheels, which has the diamond-turned anthracite black paint job. The Audi RS Q8 colour choices inlcude gorgeous Java Green metallic shown in the images.

Getting inside, a more sporty-looking cabin welcomes the driver and the co-passengers. The Audi virtual cockpit gets a special RS display and a shift light display. The centre console has the new Aluminum Spectrum trim.

2020 Audi RS Q8 gets over 30 driver-assist systems including adaptive cruise assist, intersection assist, 360 degrees surround-view camera, lane change warning, etc.
