2020 Nissan Kicks facelift likely to unveil in March
KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan Motor Company, is planning to give a mid-life update to the compact SUV- Nissan Kicks. As per sources, the model is set to make its global debut in Thailand in March 2020. Various spy shots have been received that shows heavily camouflaged test mules running on the road of certain Asian regions. We could spot modern cues like LED headlamps and a completely overhauled front and slightly modified rear end fascia.
The front face of the car seems to get a more angular look and the headlamps are less rounded. V-motion grille appears to merge more effortlessly with the bumper, giving it a neat appearance. With the slight modifications, rear face and tail-lights also receive mild but noticeable tweaks.
The Japanese carmaker has been testing the camouflaged prototype in full swing, ahead of its introduction at a global stage.
Going to the inside of the car, the new Nissan Kicks will feature an updated infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. Material quality used might also be more sustainable and sophisticated.
At the heart, we expected Nissan Kicks to get an e-power technology this time as we have seen in the global-spec Nissan Note hatchback. For the global model, the 2020 Nissan Kicks will be offered with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder HR12DE petrol engine coupled to a 1.5kWh battery pack. The combined power output will spark out at 129bhp. In this hybrid system, the engine is used as a power generator for the batteries and the wheels are driven by an electric motor. The arrangement is understood to help Nissan achieve the desired fuel efficiency and will also curb CO2 emissions which are a mandate in certain countries, including Thailand.
Due to the hybrid powertrain feature, the prices for Nissan Kicks might just drive up.
It is a stated fact that Nissan SUV or crossover is said to have one of the best suspension arrangements. No matter how deep you dig into a pothole, in a high or low speed, you will never feel your spine busting. This is the uniqueness of Nissan and the Kicks shall also manage to carpet everything. It also offers a very poised journey on straight roads and turns. If not the best design award, we certainly can award Nissan Crossovers and SUV’s the award for offering the most comfortable ride.
As of now, the Malaysian market doesn't get Kicks but nonetheless, we expect to get the 2020 model, later this year.
