Check out the first teaser images of the 2021 Hyundai i20 N

KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai unveiled the all-new i20 hatchback in February this year and now its sporty N division is prepping to add the smallest and most affordable model ever in its lineup, the i20 N. 

The first look of the 2021 Hyundai i20 N came across a few months back when a teaser video accidentally surfaced on the internet, although the company had promptly taken it down. Later on, it was spotted testing at the Nürburgring track as well as outside on the roads with more or fewer camouflages. Well, now Hyundai has officially released the first teaser images of the upcoming hot hatch.

The 3D-rendering photos show the car in N division’s customary Performance Blue paint and somewhat hints at borrowing the design philosophy from its sibling, the i30 N. The teaser previews the bespoke front bumper with larger intakes, angular 18-inch wheel, red ‘N’ branded brake calipers, red side skirts and a back spoiler stretching off from the roof. The pillars, roof, skirts, and wing mirrors are finished in Phantom Black shade.

That is all Hyundai is willing to disclose for the time being. Regarding the technical specifications, the supermini is expected to be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-pot engine churning out 204 PS of maximum power and 275 Nm of peak torque. A six-speed manual gearbox will be there to send power to the front wheels. Several N drive modes and a mechanical limited slip differential are also likely to be included.

The suspension setup of the upgraded chassis gets new knuckles, springs as well as shocks for better ride and handling, while for braking, there will be huge 320 mm front rotors, paired with N brake calipers. 

Set to hit the market in the first half of 2021, the upcoming Hyundai i20 N will lock horns against the Volkswagen Polo GTI, Peugeot’s future 208 GTi, and Ford Fiesta ST.
