95th Anniversary celebration: Touring Superleggera coming up with a mid-engine car
KUALA LUMPUR: Touring Superleggera is not a name everybody knows. It is an Italian coachbuilder that builds bespoke commissions and limited edition cars. Established in 1926, the company immediately gained work from premier auto manufacturers like Isotta Fraschini and Alfa Romeo. Later on the coachbuilder also designed the first-ever Lamborghini, the 350 GT and the Aston Martin DB5 and DB6.
One of its most recent hand-built art pieces was the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder that is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C. The Carrozzeria Touring took 4,000 man hours and 6 months to bring it to life. And now the Italian coachbuilder is working on another masterpiece to celebrate its 95th anniversary, exciting right?
Unlike the models in its standard lineup that are front engined, the 95th anniversary tribute will feature a mid-engine layout. While the supercar powertrain will rest behind the front-wheels, its design language will mostly resemble its predecessors. After seeing its look-book we believe it is surely a good idea.
Touring is still numb about its upcoming car details, however if it is to get Disco Volante’s Ferrari derived 4.7-litre V8 mill, we expect the 95th anniversary model to get a power bump.
When will it arrive?
According to Touring Superleggera, the 95th-anniversary supercar is in its final production stage and will arrive in June this year. It will be showcased by the coachbuilder at premium auto events like the Zoute GP, The Bridge, Salon Prive, and The Quail.
