All-new Peugeot 508 to soon launch in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: The new Peugeot 508 has now been confirmed to be for the Malaysian market. The car is slated to be launched in the second quarter of 2019. The press drive event for the car was recently held in Monte Carlo.
The car is expected to be launched in two turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engines. One engine will be equipped to deliver 180 hp/250 Nm, while the range-topping mill would deliver 225 hp/300 Nm. These PureTech engines have been paired along with an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission by Aisin. The currently available car comes with a diesel engine in Malaysia, but it’s not yet confirmed that whether the BlueHDi units of the new 508 will be launched in the country or not.
The size of this Peugeot 508 will be shorter at 4.75 metres vs 4.83 metres and lower below 1.4 metres vs 1.46 metres. The car sits on the PSA Group’s EMP2 platform. This helps in weight savings, better fuel efficiency, safety, and performance.
The new 508 appears to be a hatchback as the rear screen goes up with the “boot” when opened. The car is designed with frames doors, taking inspiration from Audi A5 Sportback.
The interior of the car comes along with the latest version of the Peugeot i-Cockpit. This includes a compact steering wheel, a 10-inch capacitive touch-screen in 8:3 format, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. It has been installed with 6 different display modes and a new Night Vision system.
We think that this car looks amazing, and is a step ahead of its current version. What about you?
