All-new Subaru Crosstrek plug-in Hybrid goes official
KUALA LUMPUR: Subaru officially reveals the 2019 Crosstrek Hybrid and it is added as the first plug-in hybrid model in the XV lineup. Subaru dealers in the US will get the vehicles by the end of the year. The Crosstrek Hybrid will be available in the Lagoon Blue Pearl colour option.
The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is equipped with a Lineartronic CVT and consists of two electric motors. One of the electric motors works as the starter of the system and gains the required energy from a lithium-ion (8.8 kWh, 25 Ah) battery. The other one provides the power to the wheels and is tuned to produce up to 118 hp of power along with a peak torque of 201 Nm.
As for the combustion engine, there is a four-cylinder, 2.0 litre, FB20 boxer petrol unit to complete the hybrid. The petrol mill pushes out a maximum of 137 hp power and a peak torque of 182 Nm. The maximum power and torque come at a rev range of 5,800 rpm and 4,400 rpm respectively. The total output of the system is 148 hp, while it can offer an EPA-estimated mileage of 14.88 kmpl.
The manufacturer has claimed that the car can run around 27 kilometres if the driver opts for pure electric mode, instead of the standard hybrid. Also, the automaker further added that the battery will take only two hours of time to refill on 240V power source, while the refilling will be going up to five hours if the power source is 120V.
Generally, the Crosstrek Hybrid looks similar to the other Crosstrek. The only differential factor in the design is the charging port that is placed on the left side with the word ‘PLUG-IN’ written on it. Also, a lot of dedicated badges are given on the rear and the sides of the vehicle.
