Audi reveals more images and details of the SQ2 crossover

KUALA LUMPUR: Audi is working pretty well to get the excitement level regarding the SQ2 compact crossover high. The company previously revealed just a single image of the crossover ahead of the Paris Motor Show. However, we now have a lot more of the images and information about the car. More importantly, the car has now gone on sale in the European market.

The Audi SQ2 crossover has a low ride height by 20 mm, thanks to the sports suspension. Aesthetically, the front grille is massive and gets vertical slats on it. The body is a little curvy right from the wheel arches. At the rear end, there is a roof spoiler and a pair of small LED tail lights on either side. Moreover, there is a lot of black additions, including the chunky bumpers and side skirtings, including the blacked-out pillars.

The cabin adopts a sporty look and feel, thanks to the sports seats and the flat-bottom steering wheel. The seats are wrapped in Nappa leather upholstery. The pedals down below are made of stainless steel while there are a lot of brushed aluminium trims pieces here and there. The dashboard has an 8.3-inch centre display that has the connectivity options including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The audio system has a set of 14 speakers from Bang & Olufsen.

Under the hood, the Audi SQ2 is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged powertrain that churns out a maximum power of 300 hp at 5,300-6,500 rpm, along with a peak torque of 400 Nm, that comes between 2,000 rpm and 5,200 rpm. This produced power is sent to all the wheels via a 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox with the help of a dual clutch mechanism. With such a setup, the motor can push the car to 100 kmph from a standstill in just 4.8 seconds.

This new Audi SQ2 basically uses the powertrain from the Volkswagen Golf and has a slightly tweaked body of its Q2 sibling.
