Bentley Bentayga Speed in the making

KUALA LUMPUR: Bentayga was the lucky charm for Bentley, pushing the automaker into the ultra-luxury and sporty SUV segment. The Bentayga was one of the very first models in that segment followed by Lamborghini Urus and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
While Bentley’s magnificence can be seen quite prominently on the SUV, it isn't a stop. Despite weighing around 2.5 tonnes, the 608 hp W12 motor boosts up the Bentayga to hit 0 to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds.

Recently during a report, Stefan Sielaff, the Bentley design head confirmed that the automaker is presently working on a faster and reliable SUV named “Bentayga Speed”. He suggested that the upcoming variant would feature significant changes in the design as compared to the current model. He said to expect similar design tweaks as seen on other Speed variants, like the Continental GT Speed or Mulsanne Speed. Both of these models have got an aggressive styling and giant alloy wheel options.

If we peep inside the hood of the Bentayga Speed, there are chances that we will find a refreshed and powerful W12 engine. In the current variant, the 6.0-litre twin turbo W12 engine produces a maximum power of 608 hp and a peak torque of 900 Nm. It is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission that powers all the four wheels.

 

While Bentley has not given any information on when the Bentayga Speed will be available in the Malaysian market. The company did launch a frugal variant with 549 hp, 4.0 V8 version of the standard model in the country and has recently announced a Hybrid trim.
