Bentley reveals Bentayga Speed, claimed to be the world’s fastest luxury SUV

KUALA LUMPUR: Bentley, the British auto giant, has unveiled the new Bentayga Speed, claiming that it is the fastest luxury SUV in the world. The company has also mentioned that the SUV could achieve a top speed of 306 kmph, which is slightly more than the previous fastest Lamborghini Urus.

However, Bentley Bentayga Speed fails to break the Urus’ record of achieving the acceleration of 0-100 kmph in 3.6 seconds as it takes 0.3 seconds more. And the culprit to be blamed here is the new Speed’s kerb weight of 2,491 kg, while the Urus is lighter at 2,200 kg.

The Bentley Bentayga Speed will be displayed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show too. It is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 which is capable of churning out 635 PS of power, while the peak torque is 900 Nm. The standard model of Bentayga pumps out 608 PS of power along with 900 Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The all-new Bentayga Speed gets some other changes as well. The suspension of the SUV has been revised and the Dynamic Ride electric active roll control system receives a special tuning. The buyers can choose the ceramic brake package to make the braking more efficient. This ceramic setup weighs 20 kg lesser than the standard iron brakes and can also provide a maximum braking torque of 6,000 Nm. The heat tolerance is increased to 1,000 degrees Celsius.

The all-new Bentayga Speed also gets some revisions in terms of designing. It now rides on 22-inch wheels and has a darkened grille mesh along with a larger rear spoiler. Inside the cabin, Alcantara has been used. However, the customers can opt for genuine leather instead of Alcantara as a no-cost option.
