Facelifted G11/G12 BMW 7-Series PHEV images leaked on Instagram
KUALA LUMPUR: Thanks to an Instagram post, the images of the BMW G11/G12 BMW 7-Series has been leaked. This has come following the instance when the car was spotted undisguised a few days back. The rear profile of the facelifted car can be seen quite clearly, including the ‘745e’ badging.
Looking carefully at the leaked images, the 745e badging indicate that it is a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) variant of the standard car. The current 740e model comes with a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with the electric motor. For now, it can be assumed that this new 745e might come with a six-cylinder electric motor borrowed from the G05 X5 xDrive 45e. However, this is not confirmed yet.
Compared to the previous model that featured a more reserved front bumper, the current model is spotted with a sportier look, similar to the M Sport styling. It comes with larger air intakes in the front. Hinted from the blue lights within each headlamp assembly, the 745e is seen flaunting the BMW Laserlight technology used in BMW’s flagship sedan models.
The rear bumper of the car can be seen with integrated exhaust pipes and the tail lights flaunt a more pronounced three-dimensional shape that is carried over from the manufacturers latest models. A full-width strip of light runs along the chrome on the bootlid, adjoining the tails lights.
As per the previously leaked images, certain high-end elements, like 20-spoke alloy wheels and a chrome-trimmed bumper accents can be seen. The signature kidney-shaped grille is quite large, similar to the ones found on the BMW SUVs and seem to be protruding towards the hood and sinking into the bumper.
This 7-series PHEV may retain the 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel variants, along with the 4.4-litre bi-turbo petrol V8 and 6.6-litre V12 that is currently available with the M760Li models.
