Ferrari to debut new model on September 17
KUALA LUMPUR: Ferrari is one of the charmers in the supercars’ segment and has a distinctive taste of the best that could be given in such a looker. With such a reputation to work with, the company has teased a new vehicle on its own website.
Ferrari has strategically placed this new teaser in a section of the website that is dedicated to the current owners of the brand’s cars (at least one model). However, it does not give away any of the detailing about the new car but does reveal when we will be having it right in front of our eyes.
Let’s take one major thing into consideration here, which is, even if we have just a little over a month to the debut (September 17) of this new car, no one (apart from the big brand’s own people) knows much about it, including the mechanism.
Having said that, there are some select sources who claim that it would not be a completely new model from the scratch but would use the 812 Superfast as the ground of the build. Perhaps, it could be called the 812 Monza and would have a very different approach to the designing and interior setup, including the mechanism.
This new Ferrari model is codenamed as the F176. Quite interestingly, the teaser image has “Icona Ferrari” written on it and the word “Icona” means “icon” in Italian. However, we aren’t sure whether it will be iconic enough to be more powerful than the 812 Superfast, the brand’s flagship bearer.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast was introduced to become the flagship model in the lineup after taking over the reign from the F12 Berlinetta. It is powered by a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated motor which is capable of making a maximum power of 789 PS. The power is sent down to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch, seven-speed gearbox.
It is powerful enough to hit a top speed of 340 kmph, but not before hitting the 0-100 kmph acceleration in just 2.9 seconds.
