Jeep Compass Facelift international debut on June 4
KUALA LUMPUR: The iconic American brand, Jeep, is known for its outstanding sports utility vehicles in the world. Recently, the automaker released an official teaser to announce the world premiere of its new Jeep Compass facelift version. According to it, the debut will take place on June 4, at 3:00 pm CET. Not only this, but the teaser also displays the new honeycomb pattern grille with a silver framing.
The test mules of the new Compass hint towards the comprehensive cosmetic upgrades which include a major reprofiling of the fascia and slight revisions for side and rear profile. The new compact SUV also features the latest LED illumination units in place of bi-xenon headlamps with halogen DRLs fitted in the outgoing version. The other exterior bits are likely to get the small revisions.
Inside the cabin, the outgoing Compass carries an 8.4-inch touchscreen unit and UConnect 4 system, but for the new iteration, the automaker brings in the whopping 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and UConnect 5 operating system.
The new system features an eSIM-based connected technology that enables the car owner to start the car remotely and operate AC controls from a distance through a smartphone app. Besides this, the other likely features include ventilated seats, a fully digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and a premium sound system.
Coming to the oily bits, the all-new Jeep Compass will continue to get the power from 2.0-litre multijet diesel engine mated with a 6-speed MT and a 9-speed AT. However, the automaker is likely to come up with a 1.3-litre Firefly petrol engine for the international market.
In Malaysia, Jeep re-entered the market earlier this year under the TAHB Automotive banner with its two popular models; Compass and Wrangler. The Compass comes in two variants - Limited and Longitude, powered by the same 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine but different transmissions and outputs.
Though there is no official word about its local launch, we do hope that Jeep Malaysia considers launching it here soon after its international debut.
