This is how Maserati announces the Grecale SUV debut

KUALA LUMPUR: Maserati names its cars after the world’s famous winds and its upcoming ‘Grecale’ model is not an exception to this. Named after a strong north-east wind of the Mediterranean, the Grecale moniker has been hoisted on the Maserati Multi 70 trimaran mainsail recently. With this, the Italian automaker starts the countdown for the new model’s debut, which is set for November this year.

While explaining the Grecale and Maserati Multi 70 connect, the automaker stated, “Technological innovation, uncompromising performance, the desire to compete and win, this is what links Grecale and Maserati Multi 70, the laboratory boat on which the engineers of the Innovation Lab in Modena have transferred their know-how in aerodynamics and performance. The same values ​​that guide the Maserati Family every day in developing all the new models of the brand.”

On the Maserati Grecale details, the company kept numb. However, the spy shots and earlier teasers do reveal a few things. As per that, the upcoming SUV will not have any new design language, rather it would be designed like other Maserati modern cars with a bigger grille on the front. It can also be seen as a shrunk version of the Levante as the rear fascias of the two models look very similar.

The Grecale will be slotted below the Levante in the company’s SUVs range while it will borrow the 'Giorgio' architecture from the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. It may be fitted with a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 Nettuno engine with a different state of tune, in comparison to the MC20. An eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive setup could be added to the mix.

Well, these are just speculations, the exact details are expected to roll out closer to the SUV’s launch, so sit tight.
