Mercedes-Benz teases EQA for the one last time, global debut scheduled for Jan 20

KUALA LUMPUR: For a very long time we have been seeing the sneak peeks of the Mercedes-Benz pure-electric vehicle, the EQA. And now the wait is finally close to getting over, as the auto giant has announced January 20th as the day the car will make its global debut. The all-new battery-powered EQA will be first offered to the European market in March 2021.

From the EQA prototypes spotted multiple times on the road all this while it is clear that it borrows a lot of styling clues from the regular GLA-Class. However, a few design elements like the sealed grille, and absence of exhaust setup gives away its EV identity.

It is for a fact that the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EV, the EQA is based on the GLA SUV and will probably feature the same exterior design too. However, many few know that initially the EQA EV was supposed to be based on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatch, but with the increasing popularity of SUV and crossovers the automaker decided to go with the GLA-Class.

Mercedes is still numb about the upcoming EQA EV technical and mechanical details, however we do know that it will churn out a maximum power output of 188 bhp. Further, the EQA 250s mileage will stand at 15.7 kWh/100 km. Since it is a battery-operated vehicle there’s no discussion on carbon emission.

We also know that on arrival, the EQA will come fitted with an advanced navigation system with Electric Intelligence that’ll calculate the fastest route to the desired destination.
