Mitsubishi to reveal new Triton pickup on 9th Nov 2018

KUALA LUMPUR: It was not that long ago when Mitsubishi teased the all-new Triton for the first time by releasing a picture. Now, the Japanese car manufacturer has come up with a new teaser to keep us all on the edge of our seats. Along with the second teaser, Mitsubishi also revealed the official date when it’s going to unveil the 2019 Triton, i.e,. on 9th of Nov 2018.

The new Mitsubishi Triton is based on the brand’s ‘Dynamic Shield’ design language. This makes the new pickup more appealing. The teasers reveal that it is going to have sleeker and slimmer headlamps with incorporated LED daytime running lights. This combination really uplifts the style quotient of the Triton.

We can also expect to see a new front grille and redesigned front bumper with housings for fog lamps or turn indicators. The new Triton could look similar to the other family members like the Eclipse Cross and Xpander. The teasers also reveal that the new model will feature a set of new alloy wheels. However, the cab design and outside rearview mirrors are expected to be left untouched. We are also speculating to see some changes in the interior but there’s no official confirmation from the company yet.

We have seen a few spy shots of the upcoming Mitsubishi Triton in the past and those pictures reveal that the tail lights on the new model would be new.

Mitsubishi has given the new 2019 Triton the tagline ‘Engineered Beyond Tough’ which could mean that the pickup would be capable enough to handle a good amount of off-road beating without breaking a sweat. As of now, Mitsubishi has not disclosed engine options as to whether it is going to use the same 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine that has got 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque or introduce a new one.

The current generation Mitsubishi Triton is available at a starting price of RM 78,890. We are expecting to see a slight hike in the price of the new model. More details would be disclosed during the unveiling event on 9th Nov 2018. Stay tuned for that.
