Mitsubishi Triton spotted without any covers

KUALA LUMPUR: The Mitsubishi Triton is all set to make its debut soon, on the 9th of November, as announced by the company itself. This was accompanied by some teasers as well. However, we have now seen an uncovered image of the car as a member from the facebook page called New Triton Club Thailand has caught snapped an undisguised unit of the car.

It is quite known that the new Mitsubishi Triton will be based on the company’s Dynamic Shield design philosophy at the front end. However, the rear profile is now clearer, thanks to the snapped image.

According to the image, the rear end of the car looks a lot like the concept form of the GR-HEV, which was displayed at the Bangkok Motor Show 2013. The car now has sleeker taillight areas, replacing the large clusters that were given in the outgoing model. This looks somewhat similar to the Pajero Sport too. Besides the tail lights, the rear now has a more angular approach rather than the rounded corners of the outgoing version.

Mitsubishi hasn’t revealed much details and specifications of the pickup truck yet. In the Malaysian market, it is presently offered in three engine trims, that is, the 2.5-litre turbocharged and the 2.4-litre unit. However, the former comes in two states of tunes, making 110 PS and 200 Nm and 136 PS and 324 Nm power and torque respectively. However, the 2.4-litre unit is the most powerful of the lot and makes 181 PS of power and 430 Nm of torque.

For the transmission, there is a 5-speed manual for the lower power trims, while the powerful version has a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic.
