New look and engine for the revised Renault Koleos

KUALA LUMPUR: Renault has introduced the all-new Koleos SUV that has been upgraded only for good. The car now features a range of technical changes and even new engines. Talking about the later, the company has given the Koleos two new diesel mills, both offering enhanced performance and lower emission when compared to the units they are replacing.

The first mill is a 1.8-litre Blue dCi 150 unit that churns out a maximum power of 150 PS along with a peak torque of 340 Nm. Next and the bigger option is a 2.0-litre Blue dCi 190 engine making 190 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque. For both the diesel-fed mills, the peak torque arrives at 1,750 Nm. Also, they are paired to an X-Tronic Continuously Variable Transmission unit. The trim with 1.8-litre engine comes with front-wheel drive, while the bigger unit benefits from Renault’s All-Mode 4x4-i tech.

On the design front, the upgraded Koleos now features the company’s Pure Vision LED headlamps that are standard across the range. The front grille now looks more prominent, thanks to the chrome treatment, revised lower apron, and large skid plate. The rear end showcases longer third brake light and a larger skid plate with additional chrome trims. Also, included in the revised list is the Vintage Red metallic paint and new two-tone alloy wheels.

The cabin seems same as earlier with only limited changes like new satin inlays and soft touch material that elevates the car’s premium look and feel. At the dash, now rests a new 8.7-inch R-Link 2 touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto system. The rear row gets a two-stage reclining seat.

The safety specs remain the same as before with the Active Emergency Braking System now included in the list. In the year 2018 Renault sold over 100,000 units of the Koleos SUV.
