Nissan X-Trail Gets a New 1.6 Turbo Engine
KUALA LUMPUR: The Renault-Nissan Alliance has developed a 1.6L DIG-T 163 turbo engine, which will be featured in the Nissan X-Trail. It's a modified version of the Renault Clio RS 200's motor and will give 163 PS power and 240 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and will power the front wheels.
This SUV can achieve a top speed of 199km/h and with the help of the aforementioned turbo engine, the SUV will accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in just 9.7 seconds. A standard start/stop system will also be available in this model providing an average of 6.1L per 100 km. This variant proves itself as eco-friendly because it emits CO2 as low as 145g/km.
This option of the turbo engine will add to the 1.6 DCi unit producing 130 PS of power. This model will be considered as the X-Trial's base trim in the UK, with a starting price of RM131,000, which will be delivered from August.
In Malaysia, customers can avail petrol engines in two iterations: a 144 PS/200 Nm 2.0 litre unit or a 171 PS/233 NM 2.5L mill. The price range of this car is between RM137k to RM159k.
