Patent images of Mazda 3 sedan leaked

KUALA LUMPUR: The new generation Mazda 3 is already in the news for quite some time, especially after getting to see the concept model. Moreover, we might get to see the production-ready model soon as the patent drawing sketch has been leaked, giving us a clear idea of what the car might be aesthetically.

If we take a look at the patent images of the next generation Mazda 3 sedan, we may find it to be quite inspired by the Kai concept that was displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show 2017. However, there is just an extended trunk added. Moreover, going by this patent sketch, we may also find it to be somewhat similar to CX-9 and CX-5, thanks to the ‘Kodo’ design language that the company uses.

Moving forward, if these drawings are the same as the production model, we will get sleek headlamps and a bigger grille in the next generation of Mazda 3. The overall front fascia looks similar to the Mazda 6. Getting to the side section, the high window line of the Kai concept has been retained, which moves upwards towards the C-pillar.

We even get a lot of designing aspects from patent sketches and going by the same, it can be determined that it is a lot different than what the current model looks like. As a part of the changes, the registration number plate has been moved lower on the bumper rather than on the boot lid. Hence, it would now resemble the Mazda 3 from its first and second generation where there was nothing in the boot lid area. Also, the tail lights are now wraparound units and almost reach the C-pillar area.

In June 2018, there was news about the fourth generation of the Mazda 3 that it would be making its debut at the 2018 Los Angeles International Auto Show. And if this is considered to be true, we will have the car debuting this November itself.
