Perodua Aruz: 5 things we like

It seems like a big year for Perodua, and most part of our assumption is attributed to its soon to be launched B-segment SUV, the Aruz. The name itself is so different and intriguing, isn’t it? And that’s the reason why Perodua stated what the word means and why it was chosen? Click here to find out.

Well, the car hasn’t been revealed yet. And all we have are a few darkened/outlined teaser images along with a substantial amount of Aruz specs info. Which we think is enough to list our likings about the car. It might be a bit shocking, as the Perodua Aruz is still to be unveiled, but whatever fragment of it is out there in the open, it’s impressive. Before moving on, we’ll like to inform the fellow prospective buyers that in a few days of its announcement, the Aruz is already declared a hit. As after the opening of its booking, the Perodua SUV received 300 orders in just 30 hours. Fascinating, it is, however, it sure means the Aruz has a magnet of features that are attracting buyers. We don’t know for all, but here are five things about Aruz we like the most, starting from the under the hood configuration.

1.Perodua Aruz 1.5-litre mill

The Perodua Aruz once launched will be available in two variants - X and AV. Both drawing power from the 1496cc mill that is found under the Myvi’s hood. Coming to the performance figures, this mill produced 105 PS of power at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 136 Nm at 4,200 rpm. Transmission duty is taken care of by a four-speed torque converter automatic unit.

2. Money saver

Like all the Perodua cars in Malaysia, this one too is Eco IDEAL certified, meaning that it will have a low fuel diet and is good for both the buyer’s pocket and environment. Perodua has claimed best-in-class fuel economy of 15.6 kmpl for the Aruz. Also, the SUV is qualified for petrol subsidy (R0N95 petrol subsidy limited to 100 litres), meaning more saving.

3. Spacious cabin with many features

The Aruz is a B-segment SUV and so by the virtue of it can stuff seven adults at ease. Also, the 2,685 mm of wheelbase assures a spacious cabin with a fair amount of legroom. Moving on, what makes the Aruz unique is its flexible seating arrangement that includes a slide, recline, and tumble function for the second row. Also, both the fabric (Aruz 1.5X) and leather (Aruz 1.5AV) upholstery are premium in look and feel. The single-zone manual air-con system with digital display and memory function is said to be effective. Also, the second-row get AC vents making sure everyone is comfortable. First and second-row seats even get USB ports and a 12V socket. Other features included in the list are a multi-functional steering wheel, integrated toll reader, push-button start, 7-inch head unit and more.

4. Best-in-class safety features

In a recent article, we talked about Aruz price and whether or not it's justified? There we closely inspected Perodua Aruz safety features against its rivals on the Malaysian grounds - the Rush and BR-V. And what surprised us was the fact that the Aruz offered more standard features than both. Also, the range-topping Aruz 1.5AV trim gets the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 tech that includes pre-collision warning with pedestrian-detection, pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, front departure alert, and pedal misoperation control. The standard safety feature list includes - 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, ISOFIX, seatbelt reminder, and an emergency stop signal.

5. A justifying price tag

Perodua Aruz price starts at RM 72,200 and goes all the way up to RM 77,200 for the top variant. When compared to its competitors, the Aruz is one of the most economical options present in the market. However, this doesn’t mean the SUV skips out on any feature over others in the segment, in some areas it even offers more. Thus, making it a good buy.
