Perodua scores record-breaking bookings at Malaysia Autoshow 2019
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Autoshow is likely the country’s highly celebrated and popular motoring event. It takes place every year, with the most recent one organised between April 11 to 14. As one can expect, the 2019’s event reached a fever pitch as it was packed with hosts and attendees, alike. It turns out there was a lot more excitement taking place on the stands of Perodua, with the local marque witnessing record footfalls. And with the auto show now at a safe distance in its rear-view mirror, Perodua recently announced that it had set a record by collecting a massive 450 bookings – its best-ever number in the past few years.
These are some really healthy numbers for an annual auto show. This means around 110 buyers walked into the Perodua stand and put down a cheque each day of the auto show. According to the equally-surprised carmaker, this has been its best-performing year at the Autoshow, yet. Unsurprisingly, it was the crowd favourite Perodua Myvi that scored the most hits in the order books. However, the car that actually drew in the vast majority of the 450 bookings was the brand-new Perodua Bezza Limited Edition. While the standard Bezza has set itself up as one of the best-selling sedans in Malaysia, this Limited Edition model proved those claims valid. In fact, only 50 units of the Bezza Limited Edition were brought in at the auto show, and in the following three days, each and every one of them had been sold.
The Perodua Bezza Limited Edition was priced at RM 44,890, and to help it stand out from the regular Bezza, the manufacturer roped in GearUp for assistance. Finished in Ivory White, the Limited Edition featured a matte black body kit with contrasting red pinstripes, blacked-out roof, a matte black boot lid spoiler, and a set of newly-designed dark grey alloy wheels. Furthermore, the wing mirrors are dressed with jazzy red covers, while the bonnet and doors get some funky decals. Inside, there are GearUp branded red-stitched seat covers, red air-con surrounds and new floor mats. According to Perodua, the Bezza Limited Edition was only meant for the Autoshow, and a showroom launch isn’t on the table, yet.
