Perodua striving to clear 22000 units of Myvi backlog

KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua is a well-known automobile brand in Malaysia that gained fame due to quality products and prompt service. However, for the past 3 to 4 months the company is facing issues regarding the delivery of their most famous hatchback, the Perodua Myvi. A vendor of their bestselling product Perodua Myvi caused the delay in delivery. Now they are striving to clear the backlog of 22000 units by the end of September.

The CEO and President of the Perodua, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh stated that “We have yet to ascertain the full delivery timeframe but our manufacturing arm has begun production and deliveries will be forthcoming soon.” Further, he added that “Despite the unfortunate delays, we are extremely thankful that the Malaysian public continues to support Perodua. We offer our sincere apologies to the affected customers for the wait.”

Perodua is clearing the way to gain the trust once again and in the pursuit has announced cash rebates. The company would be repaying around 3100 customers, who booked the car initially and were supposed to get their unit before 1st of September that is also the implementation date for new SST (Sales and Service Tax).
Despite this disturbance, the company sold around 168,200 units this year between January to September. That is an 11% hike in manufacturing when we compare the last year’s sales (approximately 151,600 units) between Jan to Sep.

The CEO and President of the company Aminar stated about the growth that “The sales jump [over the year so far> can be attributed to the positive response for the new Perodua Myvi as well as for our other models – the Axia, Bezza, and Alza – which sold some 53,700, 38,100 and 18,400 units respectively this year so far.”

Now, it is presumed that the Perodua will recover from the tragic situation soon and will continue delivering the quality products.
