Previous-gen Ford F-150 launched in the Philippines ahead of 2021 model debut
KUALA LUMPUR: When the United States is a just day away from getting the next-generation Ford F-150, the automaker launched its predecessor in Asia. Isn't it strange? But the Ford says it was originally scheduled for March, but for obvious reasons, pushed it back. Well, considering the F-150's reputation as a sturdy workhorse, it's not a bad thing.
This arrival marked the return of Ford F-150 in the Philippine market after almost 20 years of absence. With a wide selection of features, the modern and robust full-size truck comes in two variants - 4x2 Lariat SuperCrew AT and 4x4 Platinum SuperCrew AT with the starting price of Php 2,698,000 (RM 230,737) and Php 2,998,000 (RM 256,394), respectively.
"The F-150 is definitely a strong addition to our pickup truck portfolio as we continue to lead the segment with the widest range of trucks, now totaling fifteen (15) variants. The F-150 is packed with segment-defining features and capabilities that have made it the truck of choice across America and the world," said Ford Philippines managing director PK Umashankar.
Coming to oily bits, the F-150 is fitted with the proven 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost engine with auto start-stop technology, capable of generating 380 PS of power and 637 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled with a 10-speed AT with SelectShift for extreme power, refinement, and fuel efficiency. The F-150 Platinum variant is also fitted with an Electronic Shift-On-The-Fly (ESOF) 4x4 system.
In terms of exterior design, the truck features a silver mesh satin-aluminum grille, quad-beam headlights, feature body-colored bumpers, high strength aluminum body, LED fog lights, and taillights, chrome side mirror caps, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Ford F-150 specs sheet comprises a plethora of safe and smart features including Ford Co-Pilot 360, reverse sensing system, rain-sensing wipers, trailer sway control, active park assist, 360-degree camera, 8-inch productivity screen in the instrument cluster, 10-speakers with a Bang and Olufsen-powered subwoofer sound system, 12V Powerpoint, two smart-charging USB ports, a navigation system, remote tailgate release, remote start system, and so on.
The world-renowned F-150, which belongs to the F-Series of the brand, holding the tags of America's best-selling truck from the last 43 years and America's best-selling vehicle from the last 38 years. We hope the iconic model soon arrives at Malaysian shores also.
