Proton 1-Tank Adventure is back for 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: Over the weekend, we witnessed one of Proton’s most promising events - the Proton 1-Tank Adventure. The said event took place throughout the weekend starting 14th Sept 2019. Similar to last year's edition, all participants experienced sounds, sight, and cuisine of the country while trying to churn out as many kilometers as possible from the petrol tank.

2019 Proton 1-Tank Adventure

The Proton 1-Tank Adventure comprises of three preliminary rounds along with a grand final event. Prizes worth RM 100,000 were offered in this year’s edition. Participants included owners of the all-new Saga, 2019 Iriz, and new Persona, also present at the event were media members and celebrities.

While the last year’s edition focused on Peninsular Malaysia routes, this time around the event features East Malaysia’s two rounds - one each in Sarawak and Sabah. The 2019 Proton fuel efficiency event grand finale witnessed participants take on a big journey starting from Kota Bharu to Johor Bahru using a single tank of fuel.

2019 Proton Iriz

As can be inspected from the event’s name, the main aim of this competition is to know the real-world mileage of the current Proton lineup of cars. Participants drove Saga, Iriz, and Persona over a variety of traffic conditions and roads to come at a fuel efficiency figure that the automakers say can be duplicated by owners daily.

Proton CEO Li Chunrong said, “Proton would like to demonstrate the efficiency of our cars by embarking on some epic journeys around the country. These figures won’t be obtained in a controlled environment, but in driving conditions, owners experience every day. Ultimately, we will prove the current range of Proton cars can deliver fuel economy figures that will help keep running costs low. He further added, the company would use the 1-Tank Adventure to remind countryman that there are several elements to consider when purchasing a vehicle.

Also, the automaker has updated its entire lineup in 2019, and it is a great opportunity to move around Malaysia to show the result of Proton’s hard work. “With revised styling, improved quality, better handling, and ride comfort as well as higher equipment levels and value for money, we have models to suit every budget and need,” he said.
