Proton Saga Plus: Additional features at entry-level price

Kuala Lumpur: Proton has recently escalated its Saga of success with the latest launch of Proton Saga Plus. “Saga" as the name suggests is the key seller for the popular Proton brand. It has a record of registering 500,000 units since its launch eight years ago. To continue this legacy, Proton has unveiled Saga Plus with greater enthusiasm and excitement. It is a generous offering by the Malaysian automaker offering an updated appearance without any increase in price. With the launch of Saga Plus, the Executive and SE variants have been officially discontinued by the company.

Proton has gambled Saga Plus retaining the price of its entry-level Saga SV while featuring the exteriors of its top end Saga Executive. Although the interiors remains same, Saga Plus is hammered on the exteriors featuring 14” inch alloy rims, a fully loaded body kit, sporty spoilers, rear garnishing in body colour and a ‘Plus’ emblem embedded on the rear representing the grade mark.

The all new Saga Plus is powered by Proton’s iconic 1.3-litre Camper IAFM engine (1.6 Litre has been discontinued) and is available with a choice of transmissions between a Getrag-sourced 5-speed manual or a CVT sourced from Belgian supplier Punch.

The Saga Plus is designed to gravitate a mass section of buyers. The car appeals to families, youth and young executives who have just entered the employment market. Proton Saga has always been a low-cost ownership vehicle in comparison to its other competitors, and now with the latest launch bestowed with additional features, it has become a more value for money sedan.

The car is available in five colour choices namely Tranquility Black, Fire Red, Genetic Silver, Solid White and Elegant Brown. Also, the Saga Plus comes with a three-year or 60,000 km warranty (whichever comes first). It can easily owned by shelling out RM33,242 for the Manual transmission and RM36,576 for the 6-Speed CVT transmission.
