Skoda unveils its first production EV- Citigo e iV

KUALA LUMPUR:  Skoda has revealed its first all-electric production vehicle named Citigo e iV. The new EV comes under the company’s e-mobility sub-brand iV that also has a PHEV model called the new Superb iV plug-in hybrid.

Skoda Citigo e iV

New Skoda Citigo e iV is a tiny A-segment car and is 3,597 mm long and 1,645 mm wide. The electric coaster has a height of 1,481 and is built on a wheelbase of  2,422 mm. However, the carmaker has not revealed any information about the weight of the vehicle.

Citigo e iV Features

The compact size does not affect the car’s interior, as it has got a lot of space inside and can accommodate up to four passengers. The car has a boot capacity of 250 litres, which can be expanded to 923 litres, thanks to the foldable rear seats.

On the mechanical front, the new Skoda Citigo e iV gets an electric motor, which is placed with the front axle. It can make a maximum power of 82 hp along with a peak torque of 210 Nm. Starting from zero, the car can complete the 100 kmph sprint in 12.5 seconds. Whereas, to speed up to 60 kmph from nil, it takes only 7.6 seconds. Furthermore, the speedometer can scale up to a maximum of 130 kmph.

The electric motor is powered by a 36.8 kWh Li-ion battery, which can provide an overall driving range of 265 km. It can be recharged by a 7.2-kW wall box through 2 AC connection and takes 4 hours and 8 minutes to refill up to 80%. While the 2.3-kW home charger takes 12 hours and 37 minutes to refill the same amount of charge. To boost the charging by a fair bit, the car supports DC fast charging having a Combined Charging System (CCS) connection. So, if the car is connected to a 40-kW DC charger, 80% refilling can be done only in an hour.

The EV comes in two different trim levels - Ambition and Style. The latter one gets the CCS with AC charging cable as standard, while it is reserved as optional for the former trim.

The base Ambition model gets the 14-inch steel wheels along with a redesigned lower apron and a body-coloured grille. While the Style trim runs on 16-inch Scorpius alloy wheels highlighted with black accents.
