Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid more details are out

KUALA LUMPUR: Those who are waiting for the launch of the all-new Corolla Cross Hybrid with bated breath, here we have something to tell you. UMW Toyota Motor revealed more details on the upcoming model ahead of the scheduled launch on January 14, 2022, although it did not spill the beans about the final pricing. 

We already knew that the locally-assembled SUV will be powered by a hybrid setup combining a 1.8-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline mill and an electric motor, churning out a combined output of 122 PS. But, now we get to know about the Corolla Cross Hybrid fuel consumption that is rated at 23.3 kmpl.

As compared to petrol-only versions, the upcoming Corolla Cross Hybrid will not only have excellent fuel economy but will also come with better acceleration times. It can hit the 100 kmph mark 0.9 earlier than the petrol-only trims, claims UMWT. 

Included in the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid exterior features list are:

• Bi-LED headlights with blue accents and follow-me-home function
• LED DRLs with Light Curtain
• LED front and rear fog lamps
• LED tail lights
• Power-adjustable side mirrors with auto-fold, signal lamps, and blind-spot monitor
• Power back door with kick sensor
• Roof rails

Inside the cabin, Toyota has packed the SUV with a number of hi-tech bits, which comprise a 7-inch multi-info display, 9-inch infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, 6-speaker audio system, automatic dual-zone climate control with rear vents, Electrochromic mirror, black leather seats, 8-way powered driver seat, four drive modes (Sport, Eco, Normal and EV), smart entry and start system, 3D panoramic view monitor, and more.

When it comes to safety, Toyota cars have no match. The SUV comes with seven airbags and a Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes an automatic high beam, pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert,  lane tracing assist, and dynamic radar cruise control. 

The estimated price of the Corolla Cross Hybrid is RM 137,000 (on-the-road without insurance). Included in the price are a five-year/unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty and an eight-year/unlimited mileage warranty for the battery, inverter, and Power Management Control Unit.
