Toyota launches 2019 Calya in Indonesia with updated styling

KUALA LUMPUR: The Calya was first introduced in August 2016, and now the Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Toyota has offered the car with a facelift in Indonesia. This car was also spied testing in the streets of Indonesia. The vehicle is being offered to the buyers in two distinct variants - E, and G. Calya is a seven-seater mini MPV, which is popular in the nation as Low Cost Green Car (LCGC).

In addition to that, the car shares its Daihatsu Global A-segment platform with the Toyota Agya/Daihatsu Ayla/Perodua Axia. Talking about the facelift model, it comes with a more dynamic front design, which looks quite similar to the HY Fun Concept that made its appearance at the current year’s Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

2019 facelifted Cayla features angular sides that are accompanied by massive black trim running around the fog lamps. It now gets a wider and more prominent grille, which is linked to the new LED headlights that come as standard across the trim level. The chrome bar on the E and dark chrome bar on the G are placed below the bonnet and aids in enhancing the front look of the mini MPV.

Apart from the new lighting signature along and a more extensive dark chrome bar, the car remains the same as before. The same can be said for the interior as it looks almost identical to the pre-facelifted model.

However, the most notable addition in the cabin is the touch screen unit, and audio mounted steering wheel. The list of safety equipment in Calya includes two airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors and more. The car is powered by a 3NR-VE 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol mill that generates 88 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 108 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. 2019 Calya pricing starts from RM33,979 and goes up to RM46,721.2019 Calya pricing
