UMW Toyota Motor upgrades the IMV trio - Fortuner, Hilux, Innova

KUALA LUMPUR: The Toyota Innova MPV, Fortuner SUV, and Hilux get new equipment along with some upgrades in the local market. All of these vehicles are based on the IMV (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) automobile platform. It means the vehicles are either AWD or Rear Wheel Drive.

The Toyota Fortuner is now available in six colour variants, which includes a new colour option called Phantom Brown. The SUV now comes with the features like Hill-start Assist Control, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control etc. The new features will be available in all the variants of the SUV.

The Fortuner also gets the Active Traction Control (A-TRC), which helps to make the traction a bit more effective in slippery conditions. The A-TRC also helps in the off-road conditions like if one drives through a muddy area. It automatically distributes the torque between the wheels after detecting the wheel spin. This sends the torque to corners with a bit more traction.

The Innova and the Fortuner have some features in common. The MPV also gets the same exterior colour and the previously mentioned features. Apart from those, both the cars have LED headlamps, keyless entry, and push start. The touchscreen infotainment system can connect to a smartphone as well as the internet. The Fortuner comes with cruise control and powered tailgate as optional.

However, the Hilux doesn't get any changes apart from the new colour option, which the Fortuner and Innova get. The 2.8G variant of the pickup truck is now discontinued, and the previously unveiled high-spec Hilux 2.8L Intercooler VNT is now available in the market.

The prices of the vehicles are changed for the inclusion of the SST. The Fortuner SUV has a starting price tag of RM170,500, which goes up to RM195,600. The base variant of the Innova MPV has the price tag of RM107,280, while the top-spec model is priced at RM132,400. The Hilux pickup truck now costs between RM100,000 to RM138,000.
