Visualising the 2019 Toyota Corolla sedan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Corolla Altis does not need any introduction and it contributes significantly to the sales of the company globally.  Toyota has already unveiled the 2019 Corolla hatchback as well as the estate version but the sedan is yet to be unveiled. This story will take a look at imagining the 2019 Toyota Corolla sedan.

Engine of the new Toyota Corolla sedan?

The Toyota Corolla sedan will come with a higher powered motor for sure. Traditionally, both the hatchback as well as the sedan have had the same engines. However, we believe this time around the engine will be different. Think of it, the hatchback gets a 1.8-litre hybrid petrol engine. However, the Corolla sedan will get a 1.6-litre petrol engine which will be naturally aspirated. The sedan could also do well with the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. However, the Corolla sedan will be no rocket and will, in fact, focus on the efficiency and driveability bit more.

Design of the 2019 Toyota Corolla sedan

It will obviously borrow design cues from the hatchback. The styling pattern looks cool and the Corolla is your no plain Jane. There are LED headlights as well as projector fog lights. The wheels are now 18-inch radical looking ones. The tail light is again an LED unit. Inside, there will be leather upholstery, a touchscreen infotainment system as well as rear AC vents. It is likely that Toyota may provide ventilated front seats as well. A teaser was released recently. It showcases a smaller boot design as compared to the older car. However, knowing Toyota’s packaging skills, the boot space may be larger than what we think it will be.

In terms of safety, Toyota is expected to provide radar-assisted tech. However, how much of it will come down to the Malaysian market is always a guess. To keep prices competitive, the Corolla may be stripped off a few features. We believe Toyota will launch the sedan here sometime in early 2019. Are you ready Mazda, Kia, Hyundai, and Honda?
