Volkswagen extends zero-rated GST in Malaysia till November 30
KUALA LUMPUR: The Volkswagen group has announced that it will expand the price protection scheme in Malaysia until the last week of November 2018. Earlier on, the manufacturer had decided to hold the SST (sales and service tax) until November 15, but now they have changed their decision as the model are not out of stock.
In Malaysia, the zero percent GST or stock holiday period was started from the 1st of June and was ended on 31st of August as from the 1st of September onwards, the SST came back into being, thereby ending the tax-free period. During this tax holiday period, the vehicles were sold at a much cheaper price.
As for an example, the price of the Polo 1.6 was priced at RM76, 888. However, following the extension of the tax-free period, the price has gone down to RM 72,488, which means, a sharp RM 4,400 decline. However, this is the smallest price reduction noted in the entire lineup.
The maximum price reduction has been registered by the Golf R, which is now cheaper by around RM 17,000 and is priced at RM 278,888. The Passat Comfortline and Comfortline Plus are now cheaper by RM 10,502. Similarly, the Golf 1.4 TSI Sportline and Tiguan 1.4 TSI Comfortline have seen a price reduction by RM 9,102.
The all-new Volkswagen cars get a minimum of five years of warranty from the manufacturer along with three years of free service, besides the five-year roadside assistance guarantee.
Both the imported models as well as locally-assembled units come under the radar of this scheme. So, if you still want to avail the zero-rated GST pricing advantage or want a particular Volkswagen model, this is your final chance to get hold of it at the lowest prices.
