Volkswagen Golf race car debuted with 330 hp
KUALA LUMPUR: The German giant Volkswagen's Golf has been presented an all new embodiment. This stunning car has become a part of VW Motorsports dubbed as “Evaluation of a Potential Customer Racing Programme.”
An aggressive front splitter and larger air intakes dominate the front end, and the side skirts are too different having extended wheel arches. The complete package includes a carbon-fibre rear wing, dual exhaust system, rear diffuser and 18-inch racing wheels.
All unnecessary equipments have been removed from the interior, except a racing seat, roll cage and an Alcantra-wrapped steering wheel, as these are important stuffs of interior.
A turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine is powered that produces 330 hp and 410 Nm of torque. The car has a six-speed DSG transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Jost Capito, Director of Volkswagen Motorsport stated, “the TCR category provides a promising platform for customer racing on a national and international level that has exciting races, production-based technology and reasonable costs, thereby offering a new outlook for private racing teams.”
