Volkswagen lends a tease-peek into the 2019 Touareg ahead of its China launch
KUALA LUMPUR: In what could truly be called a teaser act, Volkswagen, ahead of its March 23rd reveal, put out the all-new Touareg on display, showcasing only the side profile, although draped from top to bottom in a sheet of cloth.
Slated for reveal in Beijing later this month, the 2019 Touareg, as can be judged from its silhouetted profile is not expected to stray much from the conventional. The market is looking forward to see only understated changes in the SUV’s exteriors; although some new, technological wows can be expected inside.
A general idea of the changes could be gathered from Volkswagen’s 'spy photos' of the SUV, released earlier. The next-gen Touareg is definitely expected to come with a chassis that is lighter than before, made possible by the Volkswagen’s new MLB Evo platform. This helps the vehicle shed 10kgs despite being fitted with several updated tech thingamajigs.
The Touareg’s interiors too are expected to remain in sync with its minimalistic exteriors. Although, a digital gauge cluster complete with a swell infotainment system is expected to be the attention grabber on the dashboard. Even though the car-maker is yet to reveal the engine options, buyers are looking for enhanced power and torque in the fresh model.
All set for its reveal in one of the world’s largest markets for cars, where SUVs are always in high demand; it only remains to be seen how well the new model sells; especially when the predecessor has sold in millions across the globe.
