Volkswagen Marketplace is all set to launch in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Earlier this year, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) had announced that it would soon launch Volkswagen Marketplace. Now, the company’s official website is showing a countdown timer indicating the launch of its marketplace.
In January, Volkswagen had disclosed in a media session that Volkswagen Marketplace is going to be an online sales platform. At this platform, customers will find special/limited edition cars based on current models.
This initiative of selling cars online got conceived at VPCM last year. In December 2017, VPCM teamed up with Lazada to sell 12 limited edition Beetles in conjunction with the Lazada Online Revolution Sale. All of the cars were sold within 20 minutes of the online sale. Thus, the response received by VPCM encouraged them to develop an online sales platform. A hint about “VW Marketplace” was given by VPCM’s Managing Director, Erik Winter, during the media session in January 2018.
While discussing about the VW Marketplace in January 2018, Mr Winter had said, “E-commerce and online purchasing is becoming very popular in Malaysia – faster than many other countries – and we see this as an important development which we can exploit to sell cars.” He had further added that bookings for the cars will be taken online but the final parts of the buying process would still require interaction with an authorized dealer.
Now, the VW Marketplace is finally about to launch soon. Other than the timer, the official website of Volkswagen Malaysia shows no details regarding which models will be available on the Marketplace.
