VPCM donated funds to Malaysian Relief Agency for helping flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR: From providing discounts on replacement parts to complimentary labour services, the Malaysian automotive industry is on its toes to help people impacted by the recent floods. The latest example of this is the donation of RM 20,000 by Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) to the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) for helping victims with post-flood recovery. 

The beneficiaries of the donated amount are 850 victims that belong to 170 families in Teluk Gong, Klang. The funds were used to buy essential food packs and electrical appliances like a rice cooker, kettle, and blender. 

Besides donating funds, the employees of the VPCM also extended a helping hand voluntarily to MRA over the weekends.

Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM, expressed the Company’s gratitude at being able to relieve the burden of flood victims. “It is a sobering reality that thousands of Malaysians are still facing the impact and damages left behind in the wake of the severe floods.”

“At VPCM, we believe that it is our social responsibility to help those in need as our #WeNotMe spirit extends beyond the Company. We hope that our contributions would help the victims to rebuild their lives.”

It is to be noted that the automaker is already helping its flood-impacted customers by offering them a 30% discount on parts and labour servicing till February 28, 2022. Against this, it is also accepting the government’s Keluarga Malaysia Automotive Discount Voucher worth RM 1000.

Speaking about the MRA,  it is a humanitarian organisation assisting the people affected by natural disasters or armed conflicts. 

“MRA’s distribution of assistance is based on phases and as the emergency phase ends, MRA will continue to assist in the early recovery phase. We welcome and are happy to receive funds from the public and corporate bodies such as VPCM who generously contributed RM 20,000. At this stage, it is such a relief for victims who have lost everything to be given assistance in any form,” said MRA’s Vice President, Khairil Annuar Khalid.

Anyone can contribute to MRA’s post-flood relief assistance by donating their contribution to Tabung Bantuan Kecemasan Mengharungi Monsun MRA (CIMB Bank - Malaysian Relief Agency - Account no. 86000 59478).
