2019 Honda CBR250RR launched in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: At the ongoing 2019 BIMS (Bangkok International Motor Show), the premium manufacturer, Honda has launched the much awaited CBR250RR in Thailand. The launch comes as a surprise as Honda’s brand holder in Thailand, AP Honda earlier insisted on a single-cylinder CBR300R. The main highlight of the new model is its high price tag.

The Honda CBR250RR was already launched in Japan and Indonesia in the past. For Thailand, it will be sourced from Japan instead of Indonesia. Reports suggest that the aforementioned importing fact is the main reason behind its high price.

The Thai model almost looks the same as the Indonesian model. The distinguishable feature between them is that in the Thai model the motorcycle’s LED turn signals are not directly connected to the daytime running lights. Instead, they are placed on either side of the front cowl.

2019 Honda CBR250RR ENGINE

The bike is equipped with a 249 cc DOHC parallel-twin engine which uses EFI for the fuel supply. It belts out a maximum power of 38.7 PS at 12,500 rpm while the peak torque is 23.3 Nm at 11,000 rpm. With the help of a chain final drive, the six-speed manual gearbox transmits the power to the rear wheel. 2019 Honda CBR250RR has three ride modes - Sport, Sport+, and Comfort.

Honda CBR250RR comes with upside-down forks along with a monoshock at the rear. Moreover, there is the brand’s Pro-Link suspension and aluminium swingarm too. Other equipment includes LED lighting all around and LCD instrument panel. Speaking of braking, both the front and rear wheels stop by single disc-brakes, which is further assisted by ABS. The motorcycle carries a fuel tank of 14.5-litre.

2019 Honda CBR250RR STYLING

Coming to the pricing, the 2019 Honda CBR250RR carries a price tag of 249,000 Thai baht, which is equivalent to RM 32,000. The high price tag makes it fall in the segment of 400cc bikes in the Thai market. The CBR250RR is more expensive than the 286 cc Honda CBR300 in Thailand.

Honda has not yet revealed when CBR250RR will launch in Malaysia. So, the quarter-litre motorcycle riders of the country will have to wait for the bike a little more.
