2019 KTM Super Duke R and Super Duke GT revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: KTM has unveiled the 2019 models of the much popular Super Duke R and Super Duke GT at the 2018 Intermot Motorshow which was held in Cologne, Germany. The new models have been given a few upgrades and changes.

For 2019, the Super Duke R gets two new color schemes - black and white. KTM didn’t include any major performance upgrade here because this nake motorcycle already packs in so much punch that it didn’t sound sensible to throw in some extra horsepower.

The 2019 KTM Super Duke R will continue to extract power from a 1,301 cc, 75-degree V-twin engine that produces 177 hp and 144 Nm. These numbers on a lightweight naked bike imply neverending and unintentional wheelies at all times. And to keep that in check, KTM has used help from various electronics onboard like wheelie control, stability control, cornering ABS, etc. In terms of equipment, the 2019 Super Duke R gets fully-adjustable WP suspension, Quickshifter+, TFT-LCD instrument panel, and Brembo brakes.

Now talking about the other sibling here, the 2019 Super Duke GT. Clearly, this motorcycle oriented more towards touring and hence gets the necessary equipment and design changes when compared to its naked sibling. For 2019, KTM has replaced the old 5-inch TFT display (instrument console) with a new and larger 6.5-inch TFT LCD unit which, KTM claims, has a better sunlight legibility. This screen also offers the rider to connect a smartphone via KTM My Ride app and use navigation and other functions.

Other changes in the2019 KTM Super Duke GT include new graphics for keeping things fresh, and a new more aerodynamically sound windscreen which can be easily adjusted with on hand. This would really come in handy on long distance highway rides.

The engine on the 2019 Super Duke GT remains the same - 1,301 cc, V-twin with 175 horses and 141 Nm of torque. The GT comes with the same equipment that we see on the Super Duke R.

As of now, KTM hasn’t disclosed any information regarding the launch of these two bikes or their prices. We will be keeping a check on them, so stay tuned for more details.
