2020 Harley Davidson LiveWire launched, starts at RM 123,260

KUALA LUMPUR: The very first electric motorcycle from the stables of Harley Davidson is finally up for grabs. Called the LiveWire, the electric motorcycle has been quite a favourite since its inception. The American manufacturer has priced the electric motorcycle at USD 29,799 which roughly translates to RM 123,260. The motorcycle would be coming out as a 2020 model. Bookings are open and can be done via the H-D website.

For a first electric motorcycle, the Harley Davidson LiveWire seems to be packing a lot of punch. Claimed to reach 0 - 100 kmph in less than the 3.5 seconds, the LiveWire is sure going to be quick. Talking about the range, folks from Harley Davidson have suggested that the motorcycle should be able to run for 177 km on a single full charge. The power figures of the motorcycle, however, remain a mystery at the moment.

Charging time is the aspect which either makes or brakes an electric motorcycle. The LiveWire comes with three different charging options. First, it can be charged via Level 1 charging which will result in 13 km of range for every hour of charging. However, it is the Level 3 charging that does the magic. For every one hour of charging, you get 308 km of range. No no! We did not forget the Level 2. The Level 2 charging charges the LiveWire at the rate of Level 1 only, albeit with a Level 2 connector.

The Harley Davidson LiveWire comes equipped with safety features like cornering ABS and traction control. Another highlight is the H-D Connect which can be operated using the touchscreen on the handlebars. This H-D Connect provided the rider with various information like charge status, charging locations, vehicle location, and service reminders.

The LiveWire can be had in three different color options namely Vivid Black, Orange Fuse, and Yellow Fuse. While the Vivid Black is a standard color in the H-D range, the other two colors options are exclusive to the LiveWire. At CES, Harley Davidson also put on display two lightweight H-D e-bike concepts which depict the manufacturer’s focus shifting towards modern electric motorcycles. A look-alike of the urban commuter Rukus and an off-roading e-bike were the two concepts displayed by Harley Davidson at the CES.
