2020 Harley-Davidson LiveWire to be out from August 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: Harley Davidson, the American two-wheeler manufacturer is ready with its first electric motorcycle, the LiveWire, which will be made available from August this year. The company has shed off the covers of it to share all the essential details.

The electric bike looks fascinating from the outset, underpins a high-end chassis, gets an all-new Revelation electric drivetrain, and comes equipped with some of the modern technologies.

Starting off with the all-new electric drivetrain, the company says that the bike will produce a distinctive and futuristic sound, never heard before from the exhaust of a Harley. It will be very different from the one produced by normal drivetrain when it accelerates or gains speed. This not only represents the smooth nature of the drivetrain but the power LiveWire is capable of putting out.

On the features front, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire gets IMU-based traction control, Anti-lock Braking System, and a media centre with LTE (4G) functionality.

The new Harley-Davidson LiveWire is meant to change the perception of people towards electric bikes. Since there is no clutch and transmission setup, the LiveWire accelerates quite instantly.

The Harley-Davidson LiveWire comes with three charging options, first via the household socket (Level 1), second through the Level 2 charge unit, and the third is through the Level 3 DC fast charge. While the Level 2 charging setup gives it a range of 21 km after one hour of charge, the Level 3 fast charge option provides it with the capability to travel 309 km after an hour’s charge.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire can be purchased at a price of $ 29,799 (approx RM1,22,396). In some countries, the company has already started to book it online, however, in Malaysia, we are yet to get the process started.
