KTM Malaysia officially reveals prices of 790 Adventure and 790 Adventure R
KUALA LUMPUR: KTM Malaysia has officially revealed the pricing details of 790 Adventure and 790 Adventure R. These bikes were introduced at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, held in the second week of November 2018. The price of 790 Adventure starts from RM 78,800, while the Adventure R variant is priced from RM 84,800.
The two-wheelers are “different” from usual dual-sport motorcycles, both in terms of middleweight and capacities. According to the Austrian manufacturer, the two aren’t merely adventure bikes, but in its words, they tend to “revolutionize the dual-sport market.”
790 Adventure is built using Chrome-Moly steel frame, which contributes to its sturdiness and lightweight. It runs on 21-inch spoked wheel at the front and 18-inch rear for the rear. Bump-eliminating work is done by WP Suspension 43 mm diameter upside-down fork at the front that gives 200 mm of travel, whereas the back is furnished with a WP Apex monoshock unit.
On the other hand, the Adventure R version is equipped with 240 mm of suspension travel at both the front and rear. It also gets Metzeler Karoo 3 tyres, compared to the road-friendly Avon Trailriders units on the standard variant.
Keeping the track to offer modern amenities, we get an LCD panel inside the cockpit. Also, there is frequent usage of LED lighting, which also include the brand’s current design trademark of a bifurcated headlight.
Both the coasters are powered by the 799 cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin LC8 engine that churns out a maximum power of 94 bhp at 8,000 rpm and delivers a peak torque of 88 Nm 6,600 rpm.
The standard Adventure model has more on-road capabilities, while the R version is an off-road coaster. The former has three ride modes, namely Street, Rain, and Offroad, whereas the latter, apart from these three, also offers an additional ‘Rally’ mode.
