The 'new' Proton Wira, and it shines brightly!
I've own Proton Persona for a month right now and hats off for Zigwheels for letting me compare with various cars. But, details only tell half the story. At first, I would opt for the Saga when I saw the price. When I saw the Persona, immediately I saw more bang for the buck even though theres RM14k-15k price difference. However, it compensates back with numerous practicality e.g bigger boots, roomy interior, coupé-like roof design as well as modern touches, more standard equipment, comfort seating position, and most of all, faster with larger engine displacement. Handling-wise, almost no other mainstream B-segment sedan under RM100k could match it, depends on the driver skills of course. Despite the Persona weighes around +-1200kg and has the same tire size as Saga 2019, but with proven Lotus R&H, the car felt nimble and agile. Even my brother's 3rd Gen Myvi with 215/45/R17 w/ sport springs has a hard time keeping up with me thanks to the 'living' steering wheel which, for an electrical-powered, gaves a huge amount of feedback. And throw away that someone used to say that Proton consumes alot of fuel. With normal driving, I can easily attaint manufacturers claim of 16-18km per litre. For now, I have managed 21.7km per litre, a record that I can never attained in my sister's first batch Axia (17.4km/l). To conclude, for someone who wants a practical family saloon that handles like a sports car (it's THAT good for a stock) with a discreet looks under 100k price point regardless that the CVT jerks at slow speed (only driver felts it), look no other than Proton Persona. It's worth every single cent.
