Sym Mio 110

The SYM Mio 110 has been designed keeping in mind the female audience, and in this attempt, SYM has tried to make the scooter look as chic and cutesy as possible. This neo-retro approach for the SYM Mio 110 surely works in its favor, giving it a feel-good presence among more cost-effective scooters priced similarly to it.

The frontal styling of the SYM Mio 110, however, looks a bit subjective, as some might find the design of the front apron quite awkward. The front apron here on the SYM Mio 110 looks wide and rounded in appearance. It boasts of a slightly protruding out chrome finished housing, which gets a pair of two circular lamps in it – while the bigger one is the main halogen headlamp, the smaller one acts as a daytime running LED. The upper corners of this rounded apron features wedge-shaped angular looking LED turn indicators. Above the apron sits a tiny body-coloured handlebar cowl.

The side profile of the SYM Mio 110 carries forward the neo-retro visual appeal, with the rounded body-coloured rear side body panels. The lower plastic extensions of the floorboard are finished in a theme of black, whereas the back portion of the apron comes with a small closed storage compartment, which also features a USB charger in it. While the machined 10-inch alloy wheels look super gorgeous, the exhaust pipe of the scooter looks slightly out of place when compared to the rest of the design of the scooter.

At the back, the SYM Mio 110 has a trendy look, with a U-shaped LED tail lamp placed just at the back of the long seat which the scooter gets. Besides the main tail lamp, there are trapezoidal shaped LED turn indicators, which maintain a gap with the tail lamp. The tubular grab rail for the pillion rider looks severely dated and is perhaps the only Achilles heel of the overall design of the scooter.

The overall rider’s field of vision might look a bit awkward with the majority of the handlebar exposed due to the small cowl in between. However, the small fully digital instrument console, with its blue-backlit theme, makes up for the compromise. This LCD unit shows readouts for speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer and trip meter, with a slew of five warning lights above it.

For an entry-level scooter, the SYM Mio 110 packs in a decent mechanical setup, with the scooter getting hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and single-sided oil damped hydraulic coil spring at the back. The scooter rides on 10-inch machined alloy wheels, both of which are equal in size and are wrapped with tubeless tires. The 160mm disc brake at the front is a brilliant addition, whereas the 110mm drum brake at the back does a fine job in sync with the front brake to bring the scooter to a halt.

The SYM Mio 110 gets its pulling power from a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 111cc engine, which as expected, is coupled to a simple V-belt automatic transmission. With a maximum power output of 7.5 PS and a peak torque output of 7.3 Nm, the engine of the SYM Mio 110 is good enough for small urban runabouts. 

The SYM Mio 110 gets two sizeable storage compartments, one in the backside of the front apron and one under the seat, both of which are lockable. The scooter gets a very convenience fuel tank opening on the back of the front apron, with an anti-theft key shutter mechanism for the ignition keyhole rounding off the safety equipment list.

For its cutesy styling, its light kerb weight of just 93 kgs and slim body, the SYM Mio 110 emerges to be one of the easiest to ride scooters, which should be in the checklist of all the potential buyers, majorly the females.
