Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Aprilia RSV4 superbike and seven champion wins in the WSBK, Aprilia introduced the limited-edition Aprilia RSV4 X. Limited to only ten units, it was sold for 39,900 euros (approx RM 183,000), Malaysia however received one unit. It is based on the RSV4 1100 Factory, but is powerful and lighter. It is powered by RSV4’s original 1,100 cc V-four engine, but with different caps, intake camshaft, and valve return. For racing purposes a sprint filter is used in the optimised intake tract and a titanium & carbon-fibre exhaust from Akrapovic. Aprilia RSV4 Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 has been regarded as one of the legendary litre-class supersport motorcycles, for the motorcycle has gained a good stature among purists for the unadulterated performance and riding dynamics it has to offer. The Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 is available in Malaysia in a single variant, with the colour options of black and grey to choose from.
Aprilia RSV4 Design
Each and every litre-class supersport has got its own individualistic visual identity, and the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 has the same which gives it an unmistakable road presence. Though, when compared to other offerings in this segment which are present in the latest of their avatars, the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 feels a generation old with a lack of many glitzy looking bits.
However, what the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 surely promises is oodles of road presence and authority in its stance, for the bulbous appeal and aerodynamic design working in its favour. The unique-looking front fascia of the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 has a triple headlamp setup, which is currently unseen in any other motorcycle, let alone in its class. However, it is the only motorcycle in its category to not get modern LED lighting theme, as it does with conventional halogen units.
The Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 is bestowed with fairing mounted rearview mirrors, which incorporate LED blinkers in them. The bulky looking fuel tank of the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 helps the motorcycle in making it look muscular. The motorcycle looks sporty and racy with its full fairing extending all the way down towards the engine, thus partially exposing it, while having well-placed air vents to aid in its aerodynamics and heat dissipation from the engine. The sporty appeal of the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 is even more enhanced with the exposed aluminium frame between the fuel tank and the engine.
While moving towards the back of the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000, a tiny tailpiece rises upwards, which is placed behind the long single-piece seat which the motorcycle gets and accommodates a triangular LED tail lamp at its back.
What helps the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 to appear as a modern-day motorcycle in terms of visual appeal is its full TFT instrument console, which over the years, has replaced the part digital meter which was present in the previous iteration. It has all the data one can possibly think of while riding, including speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, odometer, trip meters, gear indicator, clock, selected ride mode and a basic MID while on the go.
RSV4 Ride & Handling
The sheer ride and handling characteristics of the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 are what make this litre-class supersport such a legend. The suspension combination of fully adjustable upside-down front forks and rear mono-shock, steering damper and variety of ride modes to choose from, work in symphony to make the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 a sharp motorcycle.
Aprilia RSV4 Engine & Fuel Consumption
This is surely the main highlight of the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 – a smooth and refined four-stroke, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, V4, 999.6cc engine, which is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Currently, in its best state of tune, the engine breathes out 203 PS of maximum power output and 115 Nm of maximum torque output.
RSV4 Braking & Safety
The Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 is blessed with a suite of modern-day electronic riding aids as standard, the most noteworthy ones of which are dual-channel cornering ABS, slipper clutch, cornering traction control, launch control, quick shifter and wheelie control.
Aprilia RSV4 Verdict
Despite it not as modern and feature-rich as the other litre-class super sports on offer in its competition, the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 still manages to hold its worth. The sheer mechanical prowess of the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000, thanks to its sweet V4 engine as well as top-notch mechanical components and electronic riding aids surely make the Aprilia RSV4 RR 1000 still a worthy contender in the very competitive litre-class supersport segment.
