Aprilia Shiver 750 Review 2024

The Aprilia Shiver is the Italian motorcycle major’s attempt in cracking the code of the middleweight naked roadster category. With aggressive styling and the powerhouse of an engine, the Aprilia Shiver 750 claims to offer an unparalleled riding experience for a true-blue Italian roadster. The Aprilia Shiver 750 is one of the oldest models in the middleweight category and is offered in Malaysia in two colour options, black and red.

Aprilia Shiver 750 Design

The Aprilia Shiver 750 has been on sale in the Malaysian market for quite some time, and in all these years, the motorcycle has remained unchanged in terms of visual appeal. With that respect, the Shiver 750 looks a bit dated by modern standards, considering that the competition has already moved ahead with more modern and sharper designs.

At the front, the Aprilia Shiver 750 has an edgy-looking triangular headlamp, which is surrounded by an equally edgy-looking cowl at the front. The other elements assisting the headlamp at the front include a small tinted visor at the top and clear lens blinkers on the sides.

The side profile of the Aprilia Shiver 750 looks quite old-school but has the required visual bulk to make it look like a proper middleweight motorcycle. The bulky-looking fuel tank is the highlighted element here, which comes adorned with bold-looking Aprilia lettering on its extensions. Below the fuel tank, one can see the exposed red-coloured trellis frame and engine in their whole glory, with the latter being fully exposed with not even a suitable underbody cowl.

In an old-school manner, the exhaust pipes emerging out of the engine flow towards the tail section of the motorcycle to form an underbody exhaust setup. The sleek-looking exhaust tips below the wide and edgy-looking tail section look beautiful, while the motorcycle has a single curved seat setup. The tail lamp is nestled between the edge of the tail section and the exhaust pipes. Since the exhausts are positioned below the pillion seat, the lower part of the motorcycle is highlighted by the silver-coloured swing arm on both sides.

The Aprilia Shiver 750 welcomes the rider with a slightly-dated but very informative instrument console. This unit has an analogue tachometer assisted by a small LCD panel showing readouts for the speedometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, clock and a few other crucial information.

All in all, the Aprilia Shiver 750 impresses with its muscular appeal and top-notch quality and fit and finish levels. However, there is no denying the fact that it is a dated-looking motorcycle.

Shiver 750 Ride & Handling

Sitting on a trellis frame with a separate sub-frame mounted on it for the tail section, the Aprilia Shiver 750 has a suspension combination of 43mm upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a dual-sided aluminium swing-arm with monoshock having adjustable rebound and preload at the rear. The Aprilia Shiver 750 measures 2265mm long, 810mm wide, 1135mm tall and has a wheelbase of 1440mm. This motorcycle has a kerb weight of 189 kg and gets dual 320mm discs at the front and a single 240mm disc at the rear for braking purposes. The Aprilia Shiver 750 rides on 120/70 Z17 front and 180/55 ZR17 rear tyres.

Aprilia Shiver 750 Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Aprilia Shiver 750 gets its thrust from a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder, 749cc engine, which is one of the very few 750cc middleweight engines now remaining worldwide. Here in the Aprilia Shiver 750, this engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox, and produces a maximum power output of 95 PS, while the peak torque output is rated at 81 Nm. For a twin-cylinder motorcycle of its size, the Aprilia Shiver 750 continues to give modern-day roadsters a run for their money with its performance.

Shiver 750 Braking & Safety

The Aprilia Shiver 750 is an old-school motorcycle, and that is reflected in its limited safety equipment list comprising a dual-channel ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire system and three riding modes (Sport, Touring and Rain).

Aprilia Shiver 750 Verdict

The Aprilia Shiver 750 is a dated motorcycle in terms of its design and equipment list. However, despite being an old motorcycle, it still has a solid performance and agile riding dynamics similar to the modern-day motorcycles in its space.
