The Vespa GTS Super is the range-topping model from the iconic Italian scooter maker in Malaysia. With a punchy 300cc engine and retro looks, the Vespa GTS Super is a one-of-its-kind offering that is pitched by Vespa more as a fashion statement. In Malaysia, the Vespa GTS Super is available in three different variants – Tech 300, Sport 300, and the limited-edition 75th 300.
When it comes to neo-retro design, there is no other scooter manufacturer which makes the use of this formula better than Vespa. With that essence, the Vespa GTS Super truly holds a niche for itself in the premium 300cc scooter category. While the iconic rounded design stays true to the original Vespa, there are a few modern elements that truly make it a scooter of the modern era.
At the front, the compact handlebar gets a rounded LED headlamp in the middle, which gets surrounded by chrome garnish. The satin chrome handlebar levers and chrome finished bar-end weights and rounded rearview mirrors add a dash of elegance to the design. The iconic curvaceous front apron looks sleek with chrome garnish on its boundary, which flows down towards the bottom of the side body cowls. In addition, the apron has slim-looking trapezoidal clear lens turn indicators on its sides and a tie-shaped central shield with three decorative stripes at its bottom.
The side profile of the Vespa GTS Super looks very familiar, as it has evolved from the original Vespa in a modern form. The Vespa GTS Super gets a hump in its floorboard, which splits it into two. What also catches one’s attention is the flush-type chrome-finished pillion footrests, which are neatly recessed behind the side body panels.
Like the original Vespa, the rear side body panels are rounded, come with horizontal stripes for air vents and flow towards the rear, while accommodating small clear lens turn indicators at the rear sides. Other elements which are valuable and look stylish at the same time are the five-spoke black alloy wheels, long padded seat with tubular chrome-finished pillion grab rails, and a chrome-finished shield over the exhaust. A large and vertically-laid tail lamp is mounted on the back of the side body panels, thus rounding off the look of the scooter at the rear.
The instrument console of the Vespa GTS Super is a fully-digital unit with a speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, and trip meters packed in a trapezoidal housing. This unit is compatible with Bluetooth, which makes it supportable for navigation and managing phone calls, and music streaming.
All the Vespas are not only classy to look at, but they also offer the agility which a scooter should possess in the very first place. The Vespa GTS Super also claims to offer such a rich dynamic riding experience. Riding on 12-inch wheels shod with 120/70-12 tyres at both the ends, the Vespa GTS Super comes equipped with a single-sided, dual-chamber hydraulic shock absorber with coaxial spring at the front and two dual-effect shock absorbers with adjustable pre-load at the rear. In terms of braking, the Vespa GTS Super is equipped with 220mm disc brakes at both ends.
